Since launching her eponymous design firm Janel Wright Design in 2011, Janel has demonstrated a passion for distinct spaces and original design techniques, quickly becoming a proven artistic leader in restaurant design. She pairs her creative skills with a technical background to conceptualize and build all types of styles and venues including a historical landmark and unexpected structures in challenging locations. Having completed nearly 30 projects in the last six years, Janel has designed restaurant spaces for clients including Mercado, Umami Burger, Ludo Lefebvre’s Trois Mec, 213 Hospitality’s Bar Clacson and The Slipper Clutch. Most recently Janel Wright Design served as the Architect of Record in association with RSHA on Union Station’s historic restoration and much anticipated opening of the Art Deco inspired Imperial Western Beer Company and The Streamliner. In addition to a noteworthy remodel of the renowned Zanuck Estate pool house in the Palm Springs Movie Colony neighborhood, she is currently in the process of completing two additional restaurant projects.

Janel’s extensive expertise includes interior and architectural design for commercial, restaurant and residential spaces. Her impressive resume is highlighted by almost a decade in architecture and interior design; she started her career at a residential design-build construction firm in Los Angeles which led to Ralph Gentile Architects where she collaborated with other designers on projects such as Morel’s in Las Vegas, Uwink with Nolan Bushnell and The Village Pantry with Mayor Richard Riordan. Janel went on to work with 4C Design Group where she completed several larger projects including City Tavern. Simultaneously, she worked with Lory Johansson and Just Joh on large residential projects at different Los Angeles estates for celebrities and studio executives.

Janel attended UCLA for Undergraduate and some Graduate School, where she studied Pre-Med & Health Policy, receiving her Bachelors of Science in Physiological Science. She decided to change paths to explore her creative side and pursued a professional certificate at the award winning Architecture and Interior Design post-baccalaureate program at UCLA Extension. Quickly building an impressive list of press, Janel’s work has been seen in publications such as Los Angeles Times, Eater, UrbanDaddy, Thrillist and more.

Janel resides in Los Angeles, California and spends her free time watching English Premier League football, attending concerts and indulging her foodie side at the latest restaurant openings.
